Andrea Kolpaska -
Art To Wear
ORIGINALS by ANDREA was established a decade ago by European jewellery designer Andrea
Kolpaska. With great flare, Andrea specializes in crafting one-
Andrea's artistic jewellery is timeless, unique and innovative. Constantly
searching for new and intriguing gemstones, beads and materials for inspiration,
Andrea frequently travels to Europe, Asia and the United States. Each of Andrea's
jewellery showcases her handpicked, special stones, beads and pendants discovered
on her journeys around the world which she then transforms into distinctive designs
for her clientele.
THE POETRY OF COLORS, SHAPES AND SURFACES
"With each of the jewellery
compositions I create, the most important common element is attention to detail.
Whether combining semiprecious gemstones with Murano glass beads or creating a delicate
necklace with handmade silver chains, I strive to create a piece of unsurpassed beauty,
originality and quality. My design style is at once contemporary, classic and eclectic.
My jewellery art is made of clean lines, soft curves, and geometric shapes. Most
of my jewellery includes one or more precious or semiprecious gemstones, which is
the reason that colors, shapes and surfaces are often the important first steps in
creating one of my original designs. I love to make dramatic and bold jewelry, yet
when I design a piece that is to be small in scale, utilizing subdued colors, it
will inevitably "speak" to me, so that it too will become an ORIGINAL!"
Andrea's selection
of unusual semiprecious stones, natural minerals, pearls and fossils make each of
her pieces "Art to Wear". Andrea transforms an exotic blend of cultural heritage
and nature's beauty into stylishly edgy, charming handcrafted jewelry design. The
true beauty of the ORIGINALS by ANDREA collection lies in the uniqueness and quality
of each jewellery art. Transcending seasons and time, Andrea's new, distinctive pieces
incorporate sterling silver, sometimes with 14Kt and 18Kt gold, with natural minerals,
pearls, fossils, and semiprecious stones for a clean, fresh look. Andrea's bold,
impressive collection consists of pins doubling as pendants, necklaces, earrings
and bracelets.
Andrea's ORIGINAL pieces come to its owner with a history and a label describing
the components. The high demand and popularity of Andrea's work are directly related
to the fact that Andrea painstakingly designs each and every piece. Often, the rarity
and individuality of the material limit the duplication of style. Although extremely
fashion forward, this versatile line also caters to a more conservative or Fine jewellery
customer.
Andrea's exquisite designs have appeared regularly on television, as well as in articles
in The Ottawa Citizen, Ottawa at Home Magazine, and Elle Canada, to name a few. Andrea's
designer pieces are exhibited in numerous galleries, high-

The unusual mix of different gemstones and hand made glass beads and the wild color story give the Bohemian couture collection its heart. COLLECTION: LEGEND OF THE PEARL
Organic, yet with an almost celestial beauty, pearls are the oldest known gemstone.
They were once so valuable that a 1st century Roman general financed a military campaign
by selling just one of his mother’s pearl earrings.
In China, India and Europe, whole
or powdered pearls were swallowed for medicinal reasons. They were said to cure everything
from eye ailments, heart trouble and indigestion to nervousness.
In nature, a pearl results when a grain of sand or other irritant accidentally settles inside a mollusk. The mollusk reacts to this foreign object by smothering it with a special coating called nacre. Hundreds or even thousands of layers later, a pearl is born.

Collection: PUKAEA
Inspired by the most beautiful colors of Paua shell found only in warm waters around New Zealand The color in the paua shell changes when viewed at different angles. This iridescence, similar to that of Mother of Pearl shell, but far more brilliant, is what makes paua shell so amazing as a gem material for use in jewellery. It is truly one of nature's marvels. Each shell is different in it's color toning, and in the patterns within the shell. The black patterns in the shell come from layers of protein that are laid down between the layers of calcium that make up the shell. The brilliant colors are from light being refracted within the crystal layers. The same effect that the iridescent color found in Opals.

Collection: QUEEN OF THE CARIBBEAN
Larimer is an extremely rare gemstone that has been found in only one location: in a mountainous, relatively inaccessible region of the Dominican Republic overlooking the Caribbean Sea. This gemstone first surfaced in 1974, although the inhabitants of the region and their ancestors have long been aware of the stone.
Legend has it that they used to simply collect these stones on the beach, but one day they couldn't find anymore. They went to explore upstream, and came upon a rock formation that seemed to be the source of this blue precious stone.

The name 'ammonite' originates from the Greek Ram-
The Navajos and other Indians of the North American Plains carried ammonites in their medicine bags for health and good hunting. Some of these ammonites were just weathered fragments. They were called buffalo stones, because of their resemblance to the North American bison.
